Nature
Atmosphere
Based on Monroe Institute gateway frequencies. Deep theta descent through Focus 10 (body asleep/mind awake) to Focus 12 (expanded awareness). For experienced meditators.
Goal
Astral Projection
Best Time
Late evening or early morning
Duration
30 min
Frequency
4–10 Hz
Benefits
Do not listen while driving or operating machinery. Not a medical treatment. If you have epilepsy, consult your doctor before use.
How to Use
Lie flat on your back in complete darkness. Use headphones and close your eyes. Focus on the vibrations between your ears. As you descend into theta, you may feel a floating sensation — lean into it rather than resisting.
How It Works
Out-of-body experiences and astral projection reports correlate with theta brainwave dominance, particularly at the theta-delta border (around 4 Hz). In this state, your body's proprioception (sense of physical position) can disconnect from your conscious awareness — which is why people report floating sensations. The binaural beats guide you into deep theta and briefly touch delta to reach this dissociative threshold. The Schumann resonance phase beforehand heightens interoception so you're more aware of the shift when it happens. Whether this creates a genuine "projection" or a vivid hypnagogic experience, the neurological mechanism is the same.
Frequency Guide
Follows the Monroe Institute gateway progression: alpha relaxation, descent to 6 Hz theta (Focus 10 — body asleep, mind awake), deeper to 4 Hz (Focus 12 — expanded awareness), with a hold at Monroe's 6.3 Hz gateway frequency.
Science & Research
The Monroe Institute has used binaural beats for consciousness exploration since the 1970s. Their gateway process uses specific frequency combinations to induce altered states. Research at the institute found that 4-7 Hz theta states correlate with reported out-of-body experiences.
